Straight pricing, no phone guesses. Here’s what appliance repair actually runs across the Bay Area in 2026, and how the $75 diagnostic works.
What most repairs run
Ranges below are all-in for the common failures on everyday brands (Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Bosch, KitchenAid, Maytag, Frigidaire), covering the part and labor.
- Refrigerator: $250 to $650 for a fan motor, defrost heater, thermostat, or control board. A sealed-system leak is the exception at $700 to $1,500, and on an older mainstream fridge that’s usually a replace call.
- Washer: $200 to $550. Drain pumps and door locks are the low end; a front-load drum bearing is the high end.
- Dryer: $180 to $450. Heating elements, thermal fuses, igniters, and rollers.
- Dishwasher: $200 to $500. Drain pumps, wash pumps, door latches, and control boards.
- Range or oven: $200 to $600. Bake elements, surface igniters, and control boards.
What moves the number
- Brand and part cost. A board or module for a Samsung or LG can cost more than the GE or Whirlpool version of the same fix.
- Part availability. Common parts ship same day. Less common ones can take one to three business days.
- Labor time. A door gasket is 20 minutes. A bearing replacement is a couple of hours.
How the $75 works
No price before the visit. We come out, charge the flat $75 diagnostic, find the actual fault, then give you a written repair-or-replace call and price. If you book the repair, the $75 is credited to it. If the honest answer is replace, you pay the $75 and walk away with a clear written reason. No blind phone quote, no bait and switch.
Repair or replace
We use three rules together: the repair tops half the cost of a new unit, the appliance is past its average lifespan, or it’s the second major failure inside 12 months. If two of the three apply, replacing is the better spend, and we’ll say so.
