Haier doesn’t show up in Bay Area kitchens as often as Samsung or Whirlpool, but when one does, the good news is it’s repairable. Haier owns GE Appliances, so the parts run through the same GE channel we already use every day. Think of a Haier fridge as a budget GE: lower price, same basic guts, same serviceability.

The calls we get on Haier

We haven’t logged the years of history on Haier that we have on GE or Whirlpool, simply because we don’t run into them as much yet. What comes in tracks the GE family: fan motors, control boards, and the occasional sealed-system fault, all sourced through GE. That parts pipeline is the whole story. Plenty of no-name budget fridges have nothing behind them and become throwaways the day they fail. Haier doesn’t, because GE stands behind the parts. What each fix runs

The $75 service call is flat and covers full diagnostics, credited toward the repair. Most Haier repairs run from about $250 plus parts, in line with the comparable GE fix. Once we’ve diagnosed it you get a written repair-or-replace call and a price. No number before the visit.

Repair or replace

On a budget fridge the math matters more, so we run it with you straight. Because the parts are GE-backed, a Haier is often worth fixing rather than tossing. But if the repair costs more than the fridge is worth, we’ll say so and tell you to put the money toward a new one instead.
