KitchenAid in Castro Valley
KitchenAid in Castro Valley kitchens.
Castro Valley is mostly 1950s and 60s ranch houses, plus newer homes up in Palomares Hills and Five Canyons. The typical call is a KitchenAid appliance from a 2000s or 2010s kitchen remodel that has hit the ten-year mark. That is exactly when dishwasher pumps, oven boards, and refrigerator fans start showing their age, and all of them are fixable.
KitchenAid is the upscale trim of the Whirlpool family, which means the machine behind the stainless panel is built on the same platform as Whirlpool and Maytag. I like that as a repair tech. Failure modes are well documented, parts are plentiful, and I rarely have to tell a Castro Valley homeowner that something is unobtainable.
We run out of San Ramon, just over the hill, so Castro Valley is one of our closest service areas. $75 diagnostic credited to the repair, written quote, CSLB #1136642, EPA Section 608 Universal certified, seven days a week.
What the work looks like
A built-in sealed-system leak repair.
What the work looks like
A dishwasher leaking from the pump and sump.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Dishwasher wash motor humming but not spraying. On KDTE and KDTM models the wash pump motor can seize or lose a winding. You hear a hum, the cycle runs, and dishes come out dirty. I confirm it electrically, then replace the pump and motor assembly. It is a Whirlpool group part, so I often have it on the van and finish in one trip.
- KitchenAid gas range surface igniters clicking nonstop. Castro Valley kitchens with KFGG or KSGB gas ranges get the endless-clicking complaint, usually after a boil-over or a hillside winter of condensation. Sometimes it is a wet spark module drying out, sometimes a cracked igniter or a failed spark board. I isolate which burner is grounding out instead of shotgunning parts.
- French door refrigerator warm on top, freezer fine. The KRFF and KRMF refrigerators use an evaporator fan and damper to feed cold air upstairs. When the fan bearing dries out or the damper sticks shut, the fresh food section creeps to 50 degrees while the freezer stays solid. I test both, and I check the defrost system too, because iced-over coils mimic the same symptom.

FAQ
KitchenAid in Castro Valley questions, answered.
-
How long is the drive from San Ramon to Castro Valley?
About 20 minutes over 580 through the Dublin grade, which makes Castro Valley one of our fastest areas to reach. We route it together with Hayward, San Leandro, and Dublin stops, so same-day or next-day visits are realistic most of the week. -
Do you handle homes up in Palomares Hills and Five Canyons?
Yes. The hillside subdivisions are on our regular Castro Valley route. Those homes tend to have newer KitchenAid packages from the builder era, and the wall ovens and dishwashers in them are standard Whirlpool platform equipment we service constantly. -
What does the visit cost if I decide not to repair?
The diagnostic is $75 flat. If you go ahead with the repair it is credited toward the bill. If the honest answer is that the machine is not worth fixing, I tell you that in writing and the $75 is all you spend.
