KitchenAid in Martinez

KitchenAid in Martinez kitchens.

Martinez splits into two kitchens for me. Downtown and the older streets near the marina have hundred-year-old homes with remodels squeezed into original footprints, where a KitchenAid dishwasher sits in a cabinet opening cut for a 1970s machine. Up in the newer subdivisions off Alhambra Valley Road the appliances are builder-installed KitchenAid suites from the 2000s that are now due for their first real repairs.

Both cases are good repair candidates. KitchenAid runs on the Whirlpool group platform, sharing pumps, igniters, and control boards with Whirlpool and Maytag, so parts availability is a non-issue even for fifteen-year-old machines. I would rather fix a solid KDTE dishwasher than watch someone wrestle a new unit into a downtown Martinez kitchen with out-of-square cabinets.

We are Bay Area Appliance Repair Service out of San Ramon, CSLB #1136642, EPA Section 608 Universal certified. $75 diagnostic, credited to the repair, written quote first, seven days a week.

What the work looks like

A built-in sealed-system leak repair.

Nitrogen pressure and a soap-bubble test on a built-in fridge line set. We map every leak source before we braze.
The corroded copper up close. After fifteen-plus years this is why a real fix rebuilds the sealed run, so you do not pay the labor twice.
ADRIUM technician brazing a copper refrigerant line onto a compressor with a torch during a sealed-system repair
Brazing a new line onto the compressor during the same kind of sealed-system repair. Recover, braze, evacuate, and recharge: the real fix, done as one complete job.

What the work looks like

A dishwasher leaking from the pump and sump.

The base of a Whirlpool-family dishwasher, where the circulation pump, sump, and diverter live. A worn pump seal, a cracked sump, or the diverter lets water past and onto the floor.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Dishwasher heating element open, dishes wet and cold. On KitchenAid tall-tubs the heating element loop burns open, the cycle finishes but sanitize fails and everything comes out dripping. Martinez's older homes sometimes hide the second problem, a corroded wire connector at the element from years of minor leaks. I test the element, inspect the harness, and fix both in one visit.
  • KODE double oven lower cavity dead. A common one on the KODE500 series, the lower oven stops heating while the upper works fine. It is usually the lower bake element or the relay that drives it. I isolate which by measuring at the element and the board connector, so you pay for one part, not two.
  • Refrigerator water dispenser dribbling or frozen. KitchenAid French door units in Martinez get two versions of this. In the older homes low water pressure makes the dispenser dribble, and in any home the fill tube in the left door can freeze solid. I check inlet pressure, the water valve, and the door heater circuit, then fix the actual cause instead of just thawing the tube.

FAQ

KitchenAid in Martinez questions, answered.

  • How far is Martinez from your San Ramon shop?
About 30 minutes up 680. We fold Martinez into our Diablo Valley days along with Pleasant Hill and Concord, so once you are on the schedule the tech is already working your side of the county, and next-day service is the usual outcome.
  • My downtown Martinez kitchen is tight and old. Is that a problem for repair?
It is normal for us. Most repairs happen with the appliance pulled a foot or two out or serviced in place. Repair is usually the friendlier option in an older kitchen, because replacement means matching a modern cabinet cutout to openings that were framed decades ago.
  • Do you give a quote before doing the work?
Always. The $75 diagnostic visit produces a written quote with parts and labor. If you approve, the $75 comes off the total. If you decline, you owe only the diagnostic and you keep the written findings.
