Downtown near Main Street the housing is genuinely old, Victorians and early 1900s cottages where a remodel squeezed a U-Line ice maker or wine cooler into an opening that was hand-built for it. Nothing is standard in those kitchens, so I measure before I promise anything about swaps. Up the hill toward the Alhambra Valley side, the subdivisions from the 80s and 90s have conventional islands and the work is more routine.

Being the county seat, Martinez also has a fair number of long-time owners who bought their U-Line new and want it kept alive rather than replaced. I respect that. These machines were built to be serviced, and most single-component failures on them are worth repairing.

Catching it at the noisy stage is cheap. We replace the motor and blade together, since a worn blade on a new motor just starts the noise over.

When the harvest thermistor or the hot gas valve fails, the sheet stays stuck and the machine eventually faults out. We test both, replace the failed one, and run complete cycles to confirm the release is clean.
