San Leandro is wall-to-wall post-war housing, the bungalows around Estudillo Estates and Broadmoor and the tract streets of Washington Manor, and the kitchens have been remodeled once or twice since the 50s. That second remodel is usually when a U-Line ice maker or beverage center showed up. Every fridge with a dispenser or ice maker has a water inlet valve. The fittings can leak under the cabinet, or the solenoid fails and the dispenser and ice maker stop getting water.

Cloudy, thin ice from a weak fill. When the inlet valve screens plug up, the sump never gets enough water and the ice sheet comes out thin and cloudy. It is a gradual failure people live with for months. We replace or clean the valve, flush the supply line, descale the sump, and the difference in the first batch is obvious.
Harvest problems on a unit that has gone out of level. Settled floors are normal in 70 year old San Leandro houses, and an ice maker that tilts even slightly drains wrong and releases sheets unevenly. Before quoting parts I check level front to back and side to side. Shimming and releveling is sometimes the entire repair, and I would rather find that than sell you a valve.
Beverage center thermistor drift. A drifted thermistor makes the unit hold the wrong temperature while the display insists everything is fine. I verify with an independent probe, compare resistance to the manufacturer chart, and replace the sensor. It is one of the cheaper fixes on these machines and covered under the one year major parts warranty when applicable.
