The call
San Ramon homeowner. Their Breezaire wine cooler had stopped cooling and was clicking every time it tried to start. Cabinet temp was climbing and there was a full rack of wine sitting at risk.
What we found
We ran the $75 diagnostic. The clicking was the compressor trying to start and failing. We tested the relay and the start capacitor, both were good, which pointed straight at the compressor. Internal mechanical failure.
The fix
This is where we had the honest conversation. A compressor swap on a wine cooler is real money, and on some units it lands close to the price of a new one. This cabinet was worth saving, so we fitted a compatible replacement compressor, evacuated and recharged the sealed system, and leak-tested it before charging to spec.
How it turned out
The cabinet holds a steady 55F across the racks and runs quiet. The wine’s back in storage, one visit plus the part order. If your wine cooler quits cooling or starts clicking, schedule a visit. Sometimes it’s a cheap relay, sometimes it’s the compressor, and we’ll tell you honestly which way the math falls before you spend.
