- Profile French door fridge warm up top, freezer still fine. Classic PFE and PYE symptom. The freezer holds temperature but the fresh food section creeps into the 50s. Nine times out of ten it's the fresh food evaporator fan (WR60X26866 on many models) or frost choking the airflow because a defrost cycle got skipped. I check fan operation, the damper, and the defrost circuit before quoting, because replacing the fan on a frosted-over unit just buys you three weeks.
- GDT dishwasher stops mid-cycle with standing water. GE's GDT series drain pumps fail more often than the wash pumps do. On Atherton's older kitchens I also find air gaps and disposal knockouts clogged after a remodel, so I test the pump under load and check the whole drain path. If it's the pump, it's usually a same-week part and about a 40-minute swap.
- Double wall oven takes forever to preheat. GE JT and Profile double wall ovens from the 2000s and 2010s develop weak bake elements and tired relay boards. The tell is a preheat that used to take 12 minutes now taking 30, or one cavity dying while the other works. I measure element draw and check the board before ordering anything, since the two failures look identical from the kitchen.
